Ecosystem

Why Cluster Protocol exists

Building an AI application still means stitching together disconnected services — one provider for models, another for GPU compute, separate sources for data, multiple API keys, different payment systems.

That is workable for a simple application. It breaks down when agents must operate on their own.

The problem, plainly:

When AI agents need to access different resources, make payments and handle private data without constant human involvement, integrating every layer separately stops being viable. Cluster Protocol is being built to bring those layers together behind one API and one settlement layer.

The stack

What is being built

Each part solves a different problem. The value comes from making them work together — choose a model, access the data and compute, run the request, settle the payment, without building a separate system for every step.

Available

AI model inference

500+ models behind one OpenAI-compatible API, across text, image, audio, embeddings and reranking. Automatic failover, pay-per-token.

Available

Tokenized data

A dataset marketplace with IPFS storage and on-chain NFT ownership, with revenue distributed automatically to owners.

Available

GPU compute

Provisioned GPU resources for custom model hosting and fine-tuning, served through the same inference API.

Available

Machine-native payments

x402 gives HTTP-native micropayments on Base. Agents pay per request — no accounts, no API keys, no deposits.

In development

Private inference

Planned support for hardware-backed trusted execution environments, so prompts, inputs and outputs can be processed in isolated environments — computation private, integrity verifiable.

The aim: compute stays private, proof goes public.

Documents

Documentation

The protocol's architecture, components and mechanisms, published in full.

Machine-readableEvery page is available as Markdown, and the full index as llms.txt — so agents can read the docs as well as people can. View the index.

Mandate

What we hold ourselves to.

Open by default

Specifications and research are published as they are completed. Where something cannot be opened, the reason is stated rather than the work quietly omitted.

Verifiable over asserted

A claim about what a system did should be checkable by someone who has no reason to trust us. Anything that cannot be checked is described as a claim.

Builders, not end users

The work is directed at teams building infrastructure. Consumer-facing products, and the outcomes of using them, remain the responsibility of the projects that ship them.

$CP Token

$CP is the coordination asset of the network — held by users, builders, and integrators alike.

The $CP token connects every part of the ecosystem: users, builders, and integrators. It is the unit the network coordinates around.

  1. [01]

    Staking

Stake $CP to help secure the network and earn a share of protocol rewards.

  2. [02]

    Incentives

Earn $CP by using the network, contributing data, building agents, or completing quests.

  3. [03]

    Grants

Support for open-source research, cross-chain integrations, and standards work.

Ecosystem Bridges

Partnerships that bring external ecosystems into the network.

Pipeline

From raw data to production inference.

  1. 01

    Tokenise

A dataset is uploaded, pinned to IPFS and minted as an NFT on Base, so ownership is provable before it is ever used.

  2. 02

    Train

That dataset is selected as training data and a base model is fine-tuned on Cluster compute.

  3. 03

    Serve

The fine-tuned model is deployed to the inference API, reachable through the same standard interface as every other model.

  4. 04

    Attribute

Consumers call the model, and the creator earns from dataset purchases and from model usage — attribution survives the whole loop.

Builders

For Builders

Build the agent layer of crypto.

The stack is composable by design.

Integrate through SDKs, APIs, or agent kits.

Use the published standards, or extend them.

Custom AI Agents

Create and deploy agents for data, inference, and on-chain execution.

x402 Protocol

HTTP-native micropayments and API monetisation built on the 402 status code.

Gasless Transfers

EIP-3009 authorisations let a holder move tokens by signature, with a relayer paying gas.

Our role

The role of Open Protocol Labs

Open Protocol Labs develops the technology, products and ecosystem behind Cluster Protocol. We publish protocol updates, technical progress, research and product releases — and we explain the decisions behind them, not only what is shipping but why it matters.

We build the protocol

Engineering, research direction and product development sit with Open Protocol Labs.

Cluster Protocol is the infrastructure

A unified AI infrastructure layer on Base: model inference, tokenized data and compute behind one API and one settlement layer.

The standards stay open

Published specifications carry the same requirements for every implementer: open specification, public research, external implementability. Teams unaffiliated with us can build against them.

Ecosystem

What we are building.

Vision

Our Vision

AI is moving from software that responds to people into software that can act for them. That shift needs infrastructure where models, data, compute, privacy and payments operate as one system. That is the layer we are building.

Roadmap

  • Pre-Token

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

What is Open Protocol Labs?

Open Protocol Labs LTD is the core development organization behind Cluster Protocol. It develops the technology, products and ecosystem — Open Protocol Labs is the builder, Cluster Protocol is the infrastructure being built.

How does it relate to Cluster Protocol?

Cluster Protocol is the infrastructure Open Protocol Labs builds: a unified AI infrastructure layer on Base, consolidating model inference, tokenized data and compute into one orchestration platform. It is live at clusterprotocol.ai.

Is Open Protocol Labs affiliated with Protocol Labs or OP Labs?

No. Open Protocol Labs has no affiliation with Protocol Labs, OP Labs, or any similarly named organisation.

What is $CP?

$CP is the ERC-20 token the network coordinates around — used for staking and ecosystem incentives, as described in the tokenomics section above. It is a utility and coordination asset, not an investment product, and it confers no ownership of or claim on Open Protocol Labs LTD.

Where can I verify the $CP contract?

The canonical contract is 0x001AAd84c21A5CD4d696C56d44866e9703c43F77, deployed at the same address on Base (home chain), BNB Chain and Mantle. The source is verified on BaseScan, the supply is capped at 5,000,000,000, and the contract is immutable — it has no proxy and its logic cannot be changed after deployment.

Has the token contract been audited?

Yes. The contract was audited by CredShields, with no critical or high-severity findings. Administrative roles and the treasury are held by a Gnosis Safe multisig rather than a single key, and the deploying wallet has renounced its permissions.

Is private inference available today?

Not yet. Hardware-backed trusted execution environments are in development and listed as such — model access, the dataset marketplace, GPU compute and x402 payments are available today. When private inference ships, the attestation path will be published with it.

Do you offer grants or funding?

The programmes described above are how we intend to support the ecosystem. Each will be announced with its own terms and eligibility when it opens; nothing on this page is an offer of funding.

Can I build on this?

Yes. Published specifications are implementable by anyone, including teams with no relationship to Open Protocol Labs or Cluster Protocol.
